Holding Pattern

An early work in Rosner’s exploration of accumulation and fragmentation, Holding Pattern is composed of hundreds of small textile pieces assembled into a dense, irregular field. Emerging from the same period as her white fragment works, this piece shares a focus on repetition, hand-assembly and intuitive construction, while allowing more color and tonal variation to surface.

Rather than forming a fixed grid, the composition develops through subtle shifts in density, alignment and tension. Fragments appear to lean, buckle and press against one another, suggesting a surface in constant adjustment.

Textile functions here as a holding structure: a place where material, gesture and time gather. The work approaches surface as a living field that records touch and the accumulation of small acts.
